When I graduated from high school, I had no idea what I wanted to be for the rest of my life! Nor did I know there was such a thing as a life coach. I knew what everyone else wanted me to do, but it wasn't what I wanted.

I decided to follow my bliss and my friend & I bought tickets to Central America, packed our backpacks, and set off for an adventure of a lifetime! On that journey, I learned so many life skills & had so many incredible experiences that most people never dream of having.

When I returned, I went back to school & finished a two year college program in Forest Recreation & Ecotourism. By taking some time in between high school and college, I was able to tap into my real passion for learning. I loved my time in college and made the most of an amazing education.

When I graduated, I knew that what I really wanted to do was to go and live in the forest! So, off to the wilderness it was for me. I bought myself a tipi, pitched it in the midst of the tall trees, and called it Home.

I spent my summers in the woods, living in remote communities, drinking fresh creek water, playing guitar, writing, and exploring what I was all about. It wasn't long before, high up in the mountains in a tiny 2 1/2 kilometre hike-in community, I met my life-love, Dawna. We sang, danced, played, and created an amazing life together. Since then, we have had two beautiful children, and moved forth into many more incredible and unique adventures together.

Am I getting off topic? Ah well ... my point is that I didn't have to move to the city (which would have been awesome if that's what I really wanted to do), get a job, get married, buy a house, have 2.5 kids, buy 2.5 cars, and retire someday from a job I hated only to find that I had missed out on my youth and now looked back with regret on the life I did not live!

My message: Follow your bliss. While all the other guys were hangin' out in the bars, trying to pick up chics, I was hiking to waterfalls, camping by rivers, sleeping under the stars, drinking tea in underground caves, swinging from tree to tree in my Tarzan thong .... ahahahahahah! Well, maybe I made up that last part (and maybe I didn't) but I was having the time of my life.

Many things have changed since my time in the woods, as they do, and still many things have stayed the same. I built my family a circular strawbale home that became our nest for 5 great years. After building the home, I continued my new-found passion to work with wood and started a rustic furniture company called Rustique Furniture (www.rustiquegallery.com), which I continue to run today, building really cool high-end custom furniture for really cool people.

We eventually outgrew the 250 square-foot strawbale home, and now live in a cute little (well, not compared to 250 square feet!) home built in 1945 looking out over a spectacular view of Kootenay Lake and across to the stunning mountain peaks.

If you can dream it, you can live it! All you have to do is ask for what you want, and respond when you are given the opportunity.
