A Breakthrough in Meditation = Bliss!

PersonalLifecoachBlogJan10I awoke this morning at 4:44am, following a deep sleep and some potent and beautiful dreams. I prepared myself for my morning ritual, and settled in for an hour of yoga, meditation, prayer, toning, singing, and dancing.

Greeting the new day, I spoke my first words, “Dear God, thank you for this glorious, glorious, g-l-o-r-i-o-u-s day.”

With the magic of the gift of this new day coursing through, I stretched my body out in a sun salutation, bowed to the sun, still behind the mountains, and settled in on my sheepskin for silent meditation.

In meditation, I focus on accessing a place within of absolute presence, stillness, and connection to my Source. As thoughts arise intermittently and I catch myself immersed in them, I simply notice the thought and let it go, bringing myself back to centre.

This morning, however, something new happened. Rather than simply letting the thoughts go, it dawned on me to focus my attention on physically relaxing my brain.

Sure, I have tried to calm my thoughts before, but I have never attempted to actually relax my brain.

The results were, and still are, phenomenal. You know how it feels when you take a bunch of nice deep breaths and your shoulders drop and almost melt in relaxation? Or when you’ve been in a room with a buzz or hum that goes unnoticed until it suddenly comes to an abrupt halt, and you feel the tension in your body instantly dissolve? This is what it felt like with my brain with the additional sensation of ecstatic tingling up and down my spine & on the crown of my head.

My thoughts relaxed and I was able to drop into a deeper state of meditation than I believe I have ever experienced.

As I write this, two hours later, I still feel the tranquility that has come over my brain. Bliss.

What an amazing opportunity we have as human beings. Our capacity continues to expand and be revealed. For this morning, and for this opportunity to share, I am grateful.

Remember this, Life does not happen to us. Life happens for us, and through us.

Be Inspired,

And Live Life to the Fullest,

Thanks for sharing your experience Brodie. I'm going to try it. I often try to relax my head, jaw, and especially my eyes. I notice that if my eyes aren't relaxed, my brain isn't relaxed. But I've never tried to relax the brain. What did you actually do to relax your brain, breathe into it, bring your attention there?
