Steering Your Own Healthy Course
Written by Lifecoach Brodie
When I believe in myself, I open into a world of infinite possibilities. The truth is a representation of what I believe to be true. By believing in something - anything - it becomes true.
"Even if you have the skills and resources to do something, once you tell yourself you can't, you shut down the neurological pathways that can make it possible. If you tell yourself you can do something, you open up the pathways that can provide you with the resources for achievement."
~ Anthony Robbins
When I believe I am limited in some specific way, physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually then that instantly becomes my reality.
"Whether You Believe You Can, Or You Can't, You Are Right"
~ Henry Ford
I remember a few years back, I was struggling with a lot of physical pain. I was woodworking full-time, sanding for hours on end, and using my body in a very aggressive manner. I was not taking the time to rejuvenate my body with any kind of stretching or exercise and I had developed many habits that were literally sucking the life force out of me.
This lifestyle had amounted to arthritis in many of my joints, a herniated disc in the base of my spine, and escalating respiratory problems. On top of these and other health-related issues, I knew without a doubt that I was compromising my spiritual needs, as well. I felt like I was shutting myself out from the world in my workshop. I gradually began to feel that in this process of making noise and dust (and I also joked, firewood), I could feel myself spiraling downward into even greater pain.
I remember one day expressing my frustration to my father. His response was one I will always remember. He said to me, "The pain is a part of life. Deal with it."
Sometimes, we need to hit rock bottom before we can get up. It can be the best thing to happen.
My Top 10 Reasons Why Meditation Rocks!
Written by Lifecoach Brodie
Two months ago now, I sent out an email to all you awesome peeps on my mailing list with a commitment. After years of ignoring a call of my heart & continually going back and forth in my mind with 'should' after 'should', but never really diving in, I finally felt ready to take the plunge on something I knew I had to do.
My commitment to you was that I would engage in a daily ritual/practice for a minimum of 1 hour, and that I would do this every single day for 6 months without fail.
Well, I'm here to say a great big "Thank You!" to each of you for holding me to this commitment. This shift into full engagement with daily meditation, yoga, dance, prayer, toning, and stretching has been a life-changer.
For one thing, it sure feels good to have the monkey off my back telling me that I need to meditate if I want to step forth into my full potential, and me going, "Oh yea, I'll get to it." I was always aware just how much of a struggle this was on my mental and spiritual psyche and it sure feels good to have done something about it.
"Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living." ~ Anais Nin
"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe." ~ Anatole France
Since you've been there for me, I want to share with you some of the huge benefits I have felt and experienced from daily meditation. When I ask myself, "Why meditate?" these are the answers that I come up with:
A Warrior of the Heart

Here's a fable I wrote unexpectedly yesterday as I was dabbling around with an online course I am creating. It was unexpected in that I had no intention to write a story, nor any pre-conceived idea of what I was writing ... it just came.
I don't know what you will think of it, but I thought I'd toss it out there for just for the heck of it. It was a fun process. Once I realized what was happening, I threw on some medieval Baroque music through iTunes radio & plugged away in bliss until I had the finished product - a story of 'A Warrior of the Heart'.
Feel free to leave comments. Even though it might be a bit hokey or contrived, it's full of great metaphors. If you've got some classical lute music, make sure to give it a whirl along with this tale of heroism & forgiveness. EnJOY!
A Warrior of the Heart
There once was a great warrior who's mission in life was to bring peace to his land & to his people. His days were spent enshrouded in a cumbersome iron suit, and he carried a great silver lance, ready at all times to wield it's power in the face of injustice.
From village to village he would travel, on his mission for peace, arriving in haste to confront and destroy any and all who were causing violence & fear.
As time passed, the villagers, who called him Lord Markus, came to honour his great deeds & value his unbending commitment to their protection.
Upon his arrival one day in the courtyard of a small forest village, Lord Markus was greeted by a trove of villagers who were in an uproar over the latest injustice that had taken place in their homeland.
Before them stood a young boy in tattered clothing, covered in dust & bruises from the savage behaviour of the villagers. Down his cheeks, muddy streaks bared the sign of tears, as he knew his fate. It would be the same as all the others before him who had broken the rules, regardless of their sin & regardless of their age. In the face of Lord Markus, his death was certain, he was sure.
* * *
Earlier that day, Lord Markus had stopped along the trail by a spring. As he was kneeling for a drink, he heard some rustles in the woods in the distance. He lifted his head to see a young woman burst forth from the trees in a mad dash. In each hand she clenched an apple.
